Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the GSIG API, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service") operated by Vonartis Foundation ("we", "us", "GSIG"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Service description

GSIG provides a sanctions screening and compliance intelligence API. The Service analyses blockchain addresses against multi-jurisdiction sanctions data and returns intelligence reports including entity attribution, money flow analysis, pattern detection, and risk scoring. The Service is designed for use by regulated entities, compliance professionals, and developers integrating sanctions screening into their platforms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into binding agreements. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms. The Service is intended for business and professional use.

3. Account and API keys

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and API keys. API keys must not be shared, published in client-side code, committed to public repositories, or otherwise exposed. You are responsible for all activity under your account and API keys. Notify us immediately at security@gsig.uk if you suspect unauthorised use.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

(a) Assist, facilitate, or enable sanctions evasion, money laundering, terrorist financing, or any unlawful activity.

(b) Reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically download the underlying intelligence database.

(c) Resell, sublicense, or redistribute GSIG data without a written agreement.

(d) Exceed your tier's rate limits or attempt to circumvent usage restrictions.

(e) Transmit malicious code, attempt to access systems beyond your authorisation, or interfere with the Service's infrastructure.

(f) Use automated tools to create accounts, generate API keys, or manipulate billing systems.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without prior notice.

5. Subscriptions and payment

Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis via Stripe. All fees are quoted in your selected currency (USD, GBP, or EUR) and are non-refundable except where required by applicable law. Subscription tiers determine your monthly API call allocation and access to specific endpoints as described on the Pricing page.

For x402 (USDC) payments, each API call is priced individually and settled on-chain at the time of the request. x402 payments are non-refundable. By making an x402 payment, you accept the price displayed in the HTTP 402 response.

We may change pricing with 30 days' notice. Price changes do not apply to active subscription periods.

6. Data and intelligence

GSIG reports are generated from publicly available blockchain data, published sanctions lists, and proprietary intelligence. Reports represent our best assessment at the time of generation and are provided for informational purposes.

GSIG reports do not constitute legal advice. A "clean" report does not guarantee that an address is not associated with sanctioned activity. A "flagged" report does not constitute a legal determination of sanctions violation. You are responsible for making your own compliance decisions based on your regulatory obligations, risk appetite, and the totality of available information.

7. Data retention

We retain API usage logs (endpoints called, addresses screened, timestamps, response codes) for billing, analytics, and service improvement. We do not retain the full content of compliance reports after delivery. Account data is retained for the duration of your subscription and for a reasonable period afterward for legal and accounting purposes.

For x402 payments, we log the payer wallet address, amount, and transaction hash. This data is used for payment verification and may be cross-referenced with our intelligence database for security purposes.

8. Intellectual property

The GSIG API, website, documentation, intelligence algorithms, entity resolution methods, and pattern detection systems are the intellectual property of Vonartis Foundation. You may use API responses for your internal compliance purposes. You may not republish, redistribute, or create derivative databases from GSIG intelligence data without written permission.

9. Limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or accuracy of intelligence data. In no event shall GSIG or Vonartis Foundation be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to: regulatory fines, enforcement actions, lost profits, or decisions made in reliance on GSIG reports.

Our total liability for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed the fees you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Service availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Enterprise tier customers may negotiate Service Level Agreements (SLAs) separately. We may perform maintenance, deploy updates, or modify the API with reasonable notice. Breaking API changes will be communicated at least 30 days in advance.

11. Termination

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We may terminate or suspend your account immediately for violation of these Terms, non-payment, or suspected fraudulent or abusive activity.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms by posting the revised version on this page. Material changes will be communicated via email. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation before pursuing formal proceedings.
